Sala Lodges capitalises on its simplicity to create a sense of absolute luxury, ideal for welcoming guests with exacting yet relaxed standards. It was the dream of a team of South East Asian enthousiasts which came to fruition.
The eleven wooden houses on stilts were spotted in villages in the Cambodian countryside, dismantled, transported and beautifully restored to offer the ultimate in comfort to guests. Each house, with its own distinctive history and architecture affords Sala Lodges its quality as a unique and intimate hotel. The communal areas provide a slick and contemporary feel to the hotel. The clean, modern lines of the reception, restaurant, bar and swimming pool accentuate the contrast with the traditional houses.
All will feel welcome in this village where lovers of blissful and subtle experiences conducive to conversations can meet. The team at Sala Lodges will pull out all the stops to attend to every expectation of their guests. From the welcome at the airport until the departure, guests can expect and enjoy a personalised and attentive service. Residents will have an appointed tuk-tuk with a driver at their disposal to drive them to a restaurant, for an afternoon of shopping or to explore the temples of Angkor.
In the kitchen, the chef and his brigade concoct light and balanced dishes, a subtle pairing of Khmer and western flavours.
A luxuriant garden comprising local species induces laziness as well as surprise and wonder. From the entrance, the botanical journey leads from house to house, passing close by the lounge with its open roof before meandering between the palm trees and rice paddies as far as the swimming pool.
