Viroth’s is a cool hangout in the centre of Siem Reap – a sparkling-clean oasis of peace, minimalist décor and simple comforts. It manages to be both chic and affordable. But most visitors remember it as a supremely friendly place – the team taking care of you are helpful by their nature, always looking to go that extra mile.
There are just seven generously sized rooms, most with a small terrace. The crisp, functional design is softened by warm colours and generous splashes of red. A small but pretty saltwater pool is nestled in a corner of the outdoor tropical lobby, overshadowed by deliciously verdant vegetation. A slick lounging couch and collection of vintage Buddha statues next to the mirror-tiled reception desk pervades a welcoming atmosphere.
The rooftop hosts a plant-filled lounge where bright yellow chairs contrast with dark wooden tables, and an inviting selection of seating options invite lingering after breakfast. The bar is all about stylish sofas that suck you in and rooftop usually equals a breeze which can be priceless in the hot season.
Tucked on a side street that runs parallel to the Siem Reap River, the location has a quiet and secret feel as the road sees very little traffic. It is an easy stroll – 10 minutes or so – across the bridge into the centre of the old town.
Owners Viroth and Fabien are usually on hand to point you towards the happening venues in Siem Reap.
